Election 2008

Conservatives confused: McCain spending more taxpayer money than Obama

Yesterday, Senator Barack Obama announced that he will not be accepting public funding for his campaign. Obama had earlier expressed interest in participating in the system, which was designed to level the playing field. Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) called the decision, "a mistake." Rival John McCain was also displeased, "This election is about a lot of things... It's about keeping your word."

Obama explained his decision to rely on private donations in a video posted to his website. We have added helpful closed-captioning for any disillusioned supporters.
