Cindy McCain terrifies Vietnamese kids into smiling

Although the big news story today about Cindy McCain is her manufactured anger at Michelle Obama's "proud to be an American" comment, what's getting scant attention is Cindy's trip to Vietnam. No, she's not returning to the Hanoi Hilton to get a refresher course on how to torture her husband. She's there's to support Operation Smile, a group that provides facial reconstruction surgery to children born with deformities.

Sure, sending the cosmetically sliced and diced Cindy might be an odd choice for facial reconstruction. But the woman knows her smiles. Check out this photo of some cute village kids, post-Cindy treatment:

But she didn't stop there...

Not content with simply fixing the kids' smiles, Cindy took things one step further by starting her own charity, Operation Beady Blues. The provides vision treatments and ocular reconstruction for children in these same poor villages. Take a look at these additional good works:

I too wonder what is so funny about helping children, democrat or republican (I happen to be a democrat). And also to choose to make fun of these children in the picture, whether it Huffington or 236. This makes no sense to criticize or make fun of Cindy McCain. This goes beyond politics.

Huff, are seriously posting this garbage? I realize this is supposed to be funny, but unfortunately for you and your fans, it's sick. Love or hate John McCain, I really don't care, but what Cindy is doing with Operation Smile goes a lot farther than you driving your TWO hybrid cars pretending to give back to humanity (hate to break it to you Huff, you can get the same mileage with a Toyota Corolla which doesn't have environmentally harmful batteries that need replacing every 5 years).

The children you chose to mock have each been given a new lease on life because of Operation Smile and they do not deserve to be part of your smug, immature and contemptible smears -- even if this is supposed to be funny, which it is not!!
