Earth Day vs. Primary Day: which smells worse?

President George W. Bush celebrates Earth Day by digging dirt without help from Karl Rove.

With all the media attention on Pennsylvania's Democratic primary, let's not forget that April 22 is also Earth Day, the one day a year when Americans guiltily turn the faucet off while brushing their teeth. The annual celebration began 38 years ago as a series of grassroots "teach-ins" about environmental conservation and pollution, but has morphed into a feel-good, corporate-sponsored, ultimately empty and ineffectual symbolic gesture — just like Pennsylvania's primary!

How do we tell them apart? 23/6 can help.
