Sub-prime mortgages are killing man's best friend

Animal shelters are already pretty depressing, but they're getting worse thanks to the sub-prime mortgage crisis. According to an article in Wednesday's Washington Post, animal shelters are filling up with more and more pets left behind by families seeking temporary housing after losing their homes. One shelter reported that 15% of animals received in the last two months were the result of foreclosures and related housing upheaval.
