Gossip for the clinically depressed

Send me your tips!

Our gossip columnist spends all day in bed scouring the wires for the hottest dish, doing her best to keep her mind active and focused on the troubles and scandals of other people. Reading about celebrities keeps her from getting overwhelmed by the feeling that that there really isn't any point in bothering anymore. Is there?

GOSSIP FOR THE CLINICALLY DEPRESSED
Aniston tries to fill loveless void with work

Having finally come to terms with the fact that love is a fleeting mirage that can only be sustained with the help of denial and lies, Jennifer Aniston has decided to give up hope that she'll ever care for another human being again, instead choosing to fill the endless empty days with work. Aniston has formed Echo Films with producing partner Kristin Hahn. They have a first-look deal with Universal and several star-vehicles for Aniston are already lined up, which is good because keeping busy with workday minutiae is the best way to keep your eyes averted from the encroaching darkness.

Britney Spears grasps for the hands that shoved her away

He used to be there for her, telling her he just wanted to make her happy, to make her life easier to live. He made her think that maybe getting up and out of bed every morning doesn't have to feel like such an insurmountable task. And like so many others before him and after him, one day he was just...gone. Like she'd imagined the whole thing. For a while it was easier to believe he'd never been there at all, and maybe she can go it alone. Maybe she's always been going it alone. But the bottom fell out, and no matter how hard she tried, she knew she'd never be able to climb out of that hole. She had a choice: keep falling deeper or swallow her pride and ask for help. Looks like she went with the latter, because according to "OK Magazine" Britney Spears is once again working with former manager Larry Rudolph.

Katie Holmes cuts off all her hair, because what's the point?

"Mad Money" star Katie Holmes cut off all of her hair recently, apparently having come to the realization that appearances are only there for the world to scowl at. As most women know, having short hair is just more practical because long hair tends to get all tangled and clumpy once you've been sleeping on it for a couple of days. Also, if you ever need to stay in the hospital, having short hair keeps the orderlies from grabbing on it to drag you into bed when it's lights out.

Woman arrested for allegedly "stalking" John Cusack

A woman who believed too hard in the love stories of fictional film found out the hard way that when you demonstrate you care for someone in the real world, you get dragged away in shackles and thrown in a cage.

Jay-Z and Beyonce make desperate but futile attempt to stave off loneliness

Realizing that there is no limit to how cold and lost a person can feel in this world, rap mogul Jay-Z and pop star Beyonce Knowles are rumored to have obtained a marriage license this past Tuesday. "People" magazine reported that Jay-Z's rep could not be reached for confirmation, while Beyonce's spokesperson responded with, "No comment."

One has to ask, what comment would have sufficed? "Yes, we're doing whatever we can to build some shoddy shelter to protect our ruined hearts against the cold, merciless winds of this bleak endless landscape called life?" No one should be made to explain such an effort. Let them be, "People Magazine." Just let them be.
