Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was indicted Monday on charges of perjury. While under oath, the married father of three denied having an affair with his former chief of staff, Christine Beatty. Sexually explicit text messages suggest otherwise.

This story, which has unfolded over the past few months, is not as popular as the Eliot Spitzer scandal, despite that Kilpatrick was Detroit's youngest mayor ever and, like Spitzer, a rising star in the Democratic party.
