George Will's "Kelebrity Korner Roundup"
Guess who is licking whom?
In a special 23/6 exclusive, we're proud to welcome guest columnist, Pulitzer prize-winning author and gossipmonger extraordinaire, George Will, here to weigh in on the latest celebrity dalliances and hot rumors in the world of Hollywood.
Barack Obama's challenge to the country to begin a serious discussion about race began with the same three words that began this country: "We The People." One person already answering that challenge is Halle Berry, who announced that the three words her brand new daughter will start off with are: "Nahla Ariela Aubry." As Frederic Douglas said, "I would unite with anybody to do right and with nobody to do wrong." I don't know about you, Fred, but I'd certainly unite with Halle!
Leo Strauss once said, "I cannot know anything of which there is and can be only one." Apparently Leo never met Kate Moss. Seems she was out and about in Paris yesterday with Jamie Hince, he of the rock and roll group The Kills. Kate wanted to lay one on Jamie, but instead of kissing, she licked him across the face. Sic semper tyrannis!
John Adams might be the hot TV show right now, but is Alexander Hamilton who opined that "those who stand for nothing fall for anything." Was he talking about Britney? Maybe. Apparently she's back on with the Kabbalah, an ancient branch of Judaism whose name literally means "receiving."
Michael Oakeshott once wrote that it's "more difficult to doubt radically and intelligently than to believe." So what would Oakeshott have made of the report that George Clooney offered Amy Winehouse $1 million dollars to perform at a charity function, and then Clooney's denials the very next day? Tough to say.
To Edmund Burke "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Lindsay Lohan certainly did something when she showed up for a launch party for Scandinavian products and saw arch-enemy Paris Hilton there. According to store owner Claus Hjelmbak "the drama was unnecessary." Then again, Scandinavian countries are socialist.
