Ashley Alexandra Dupré: Emperors' Club's Employee of the Month

Ashley Alexandra Dupré is happy Eliot Spitzer's not inside her right now.

Now that disgraced New York governor Eliot Spitzer has resigned after being ID'd as "Client 9" of high-priced prostitution ring The Emperor Club VIP, the media's gaze has turned to the prostitute identified in wiretapped conversations as Spitzer's escort. Turns out "Kristen" is a 22-year-old, Jersey Shore-born aspiring musician named Ashley Alexandra Dupré, which may make her the first call girl whose real name is campier than her alias.

This morning, "The Today Show" interviewed some friends of Dupré's and MSNBC.com published excerpts under the headline, "Friends defend call girl who took down Eliot Spitzer". An hour later, the headline had been changed to the less blame-y sounding "Friends defend call girl in Spitzer sex scandal."

MSNBC was slobbering for drama, but they knew they were taking things too far. Just look at how the media read Dupre's MySpace page, which was bombarded with hits yesterday, removed, and rebuilt.
