Hey, Americans, there's a new nation you can't find on a map of the world and it's called Kosovo
The news that Kosovo voted to declare itself an independent nation was met with equal parts warmth and scorn. France, Turkey and the U.S. extended an olive branch to the Muslim country, while Spain and Serbia refused to recognize its existence. China expressed concern about Kosovo's "severe and negative impact on peace and stability of the Balkan region."
President Bush was kind enough to send a congratulatory note: "On behalf of the American people, I hereby recognize Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state." But as 23/6 found out, a few other cards also made their way into Kosovo's mailbox.
