Former Congressman sponsors al-Qaeda, takes funny pics
Former Republican Congressman Mark Deli Siljander during the 70s. Let's hope "free love" didn't apply to this guy.
On Wednesday, a former Republican congressman from Michigan was indicted for sending more than $130,000 to an al-Qaeda supporter. The indictment has raised many questions, not the least of which is: Why does the undated photo released of the congressman, Mark Deli Siljander, look like it was taken sometime in the 1970s?
Siljander served in Congress in the '80s and was indicted for lobbying work done after 2004, but with a photo like that, we can only assume he made the acquaintance of his al-Qaeda employers back in the heady psychedelic '70s. Were Ayman al-Zawahiri and Osama bin Laden just as groovy back then?
