Obama popular in Germany, for all the creepy reasons
Der Camelot.
Barack Obama's success in the polls has won him a whole new fan base...in Germany. Two papers referred to Obama as the "new Kennedy", and Uwe Andersen, a political science professor at Ruhr University, said of the phenomenon:
![]() | In Germany, there is great sympathy first for Native Americans and second for black Americans.![]() |
Yes, while every culture has feelings about other races and ethnicities, it is particularly German to rank those feelings numerically. 23/6 takes a deeper look at the Germans' love for blacks, Jews and whatever Cher is.

For your average banally evil German, there's plenty to love about Native
Americans. They are easy to conquer (via infected blankets), they don't
blend in with Aryans (a la Melanie Griffith in Shining Through), and when it
comes to keeping tabs on a minority for rounding-up purposes, Native Americans
can be found in one of three places: a reservation, a casino or a barunlike Hispanics, who can't even be found in their own country.

One only need to see Boris Becker's ex-wife and nearly all his subsequent girlfriends to understand that Germans love blacks. And why not? They have
lots in common. They both call New York City "Hymietown," they both have a
lazy underclass (East Germans/Atlantans), and they both think Barack Obama is
the "Black JFK"Germans, for his ability to reinvigorate Americans; blacks,
for his ability to probably get assassinated in the South.
![]() | Jews | |
Absence truly makes the heart grow fonder, at least for Jews from the former Soviet Union, who've been immigrating to Germany in record numbers since 1990. (Apparently Netflix/Belarus does not carry Shoah.) In fact, Germany
has been so overwhelmed by Jews that, in 2006, it enacted laws to slow their
immigration. Which tells us another thing Germans don't like about Jews:
they can't take a hint.
