Burning at the Bush in Israel

Sybil Adelman Sage | Bio

Bush in Israel is truly a carp out of water. When greeted by Israeli children singing "Hava Nagilah," our president could not have looked more surprised, unsure how to react. In typical Bush fashion, his reddened face was expressionless. He was clueless as to how to respond. "Holy cow, what's this?" is what he appeared to be feeling or, "Toto, we're out of Texas!"

He then made a blanket statement that it's important the Israelis and Palestinians come to an agreement to live in peace, emphatically adding, "They will, and they'll do it before I leave office."

His agenda, as underscored by that statement, is totally narcissistic, less about improving lives in the area than about his legacy as a president, which he is trying to change in a sudden-death attempt.
