Comments Cut Both Ways |
When I first heard people would be able to comment on our posts, I was very much against it. Who needs to be judged? As a former baton twirler I didn't like to hear "you have a lack of poise" or as a young art student "you have no sense of perspective." At that time I had never heard of Salvador Dali, so I instantly quit. I fooled my teacher though, I took my lack of perspective into my real life.
I was also told in my writing class "you are making it too personal." Aren't we supposed to write what we know? I had no friends who I could I write about smoking in the bathroom with so I quit that too....so suddenly my favorite high school activity was finding creative ways to get out of gym class. But now, years later, after being afraid of comments on my posts, I feel bad that there is only one. I feel like a comic in an empty comedy club. No people, why I could even shout the N word and have no repercussions. Come on people, I need to fight! No one was offended by Britney Spears getting exploding diapers? or beastiality with Leona Helmsley's dog? Who else would suggest GW drink again, except the ever pouting Laura...and if none of that appeals to you, at least send money, or old clothes. Actually I'm not that thrilled with the H word. Hating me, no matter how brilliant, would only make me feel fat. I guess I have to accept you guys are mostly on MySpace. I am too. I have 6 friends! I think two are the same person with one telling me I will get 100 thousand dollars if I help him get his hands on his million dollar inheritance. I'm going to the bank today.
You know what, I've rethought this whole idea of writing comments, first of all it takes time away from iPod fun, and who knows if my high school teachers are here and ready to torture. Kids, listen to no teachers except the gay acting coach. He doesn't want to be there either. So don't write: Only write about what you know and none of you know me. I hate you and everyone in the republican party. Love, Monica
