Yes, Florida, We See You |
Not content with their 2000 moment in the sun, Florida voters are once again thumbing their zinc-covered noses at the election process.
Despite no official Democratic primary in Florida this time around (party officials are pissed that the Sunshine State moved up their date to--what else? --get more election attention), nearly 400,000 advance votes are expected to be cast by Tuesday's official Election Day.
Some perspective: Only 97,000 Floridians voted in '04 when the state did hold a Democratic primary, and Democratic ballots cast in advance of Tuesday's primary have already beat turnout in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada.
Yes, yes, Florida, we see you. You're like the child at a dinner party who insists on playing the same piano piece over and over again.
Since Florida is so intent on asserting itself into the election spotlight, it makes sense that the state's tourism department would get in on the act. Here's a sneak preview of a new postcard promotion:
