The Waterboarding Maverick

John Knefel | Bio

Presidential hopeful and former Prison of War John McCain voted "no" in the Senate on a bill that placed a ban on waterboarding. McCain has spoken out strongly against torture in the past, but today it appears he has caved to right-wing pressures. He's done the back-and-forth dance before with his stances on issues like women's reproductive rights, Jerry Falwell and the nutty Christians who love him, and tax cuts for the maddeningly wealthy, just to name a few.

Here are some other McCain 180 degree turns I'm hoping for in the near future, but not counting on:

Now: Blood-thirsty warmonger
Tomorrow: Sprite thirsty Carebear

Now: "Competitive" Healthcare plan
Tomorrow: Actual Healthcare plan

Now: "Economics is not something I've understood..."
Tomorrow: "Neither is foreign policy or domestic issues."

Now: Straight-Talk Express
Tomorrow: Correctly rename to: Panderville Railroad.

Now: Stay in Iraq for 100 years
Tomorrow: Energy independence

Now: Running for President
Tomorrow: Not running for President

These are all unlikely, but hey, a man who was tortured, and then voted to not ban torture might do anything.
