A good friend of mine Alan Clifford, a DJ on BBC local radio in the UK, recently interviewed the owner of a traveling circus that features live animals--tigers, camels etc. Despite being a Vegan of 30 years, Alan set about the task with a calm head, discussing with Mr. Lacey some of the issues that surround keeping wild animals in captivity. They were outside recording and laughing as a tiger sprayed him, and Mr. Lacey mentioned that the tigers were eighth generation circus animals. Alan jokingly referred to them as "being born in to slavery", but as they walked towards the camel tent about 30 yards away, Alan made a fatal mistake: He used the word "tethered"... and all hell broke loose.
Fortunately this exchange was on tape, so I took the opportunity to add a a few musical flourishes. Ladies and Gentleman...Mr. Lacey's Circus.
